Just so we’re all on the same page
‘Queer’ is a slur.
Taking on ‘queer’ as an identity means recognizing that it is a slur and trying to reclaim that. Just… be careful how you use it :-/
It’s not a neutral apolitical word.

for a lot of people in the lqbtq community, using “queer” is very empowering. at my univ., we voted to rename our lgbtq group the “Queer & Ally Student Assembly” and many of my friends prefer “queer” over terms like “bisexual” or “lesbian”
